Greening Greater Manchester is pleased to announce the launch of our new website. The initiative is almost ten years old and the new website will provide even more information about GGM funded projects and detail how you can access funding to improve communities in Greater Manchester. The website will also provide regular news updates on projects that have received funding and users will be able to see how a project develops.
A new feature of the website is the Projects map tool. Users can quickly and easily identify projects that have received funding in the last round of applications, from a map of Greater Manchester. Each project has a short description of what the funding will pay for, as well as highlighting the lead organisation and environmental body responsible.
The How to apply page contains all the information and documents needed to submit an application to GGM. On the Get Greening! pages users can find out about the type of projects that receive GGM funding. The section contains advice and case studies as well as links to organisations that can get your project off the ground.
The Greening Greater Manchester initiative is part of a wider national scheme set up through Biffaward, a multi-million pound fund that uses landfill tax credits donated to Biffa Waste Services to support worthwhile environmental projects across the UK. GGM is managed by Groundwork for the benefit of neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester.
Biffaward seek to support projects that are particularly innovative, of lasting community and environmental benefit and improve quality of life. GGM projects are assessed for the level of innovation, community benefit and involvement, partnerships with relevant groups, and to what extent the projects contribute towards sustainable development.
